Last summer I wrote a personal essay about my music teaching practices, called "Not My Cup of Tea": Can We Teach Composition Beyond Musical Genre? It is about graphic notation, ways to get students composing, and how different ways of composing can get us stuck creating certain genres or styles of music.
I'm happy to announce that my article has published in the journal of the Canadian Music Educators Association (vol. 58 no. 2 - Winter 2017)
