Art Song Collaborative Project presents Cries of the Earth, featuring art songs and mini-operas by 13 Canadian and international composers.
Alex Eddington wrote the libretto and music for a mini-opera, Albatross Smorgasbord.
Inspired by Chris Jordan’s photographs of plastic-filled baby albatross carcasses on Midway Island, and his beautiful documentary film Albatross, Albatross Smorgasbord is a tragicomic 10-minute chamber opera about two young Laysan albatrosses preparing for their first flight out to the ocean, but facing an almost insurmountable hurdle.
