Big Blue Sky was commissioned by Sound Opportunity through Choral Canada.

Sound Opportunity is a singing group of adult mixed voices in Edmonton, Alberta. Founded by conductor Cheryl Balay in 2005, the singers in Sound Opportunity come from a variety of backgrounds, bringing with them great diversity and various vocal skill levels.

Big Blue Sky was premiered by Sound Opportunity as part of their 20th anniversary concert in May 2025.
