From Bruno Degazio:
Three Tales From Rabbi Nachman brings to life three luminous stories told by Rabbi Nachman of Breslov between 1806 and 1810. Emerging from the rich oral tradition of Hasidism, these symbolic tales are widely regarded as heralding Jewish literature’s entry into modernity. Their layered, dreamlike imagery later drew admiration from writers such as Franz Kafka.
Rabbi Nachman’s purpose, however, was not literary but spiritual. He believed that storytelling itself participates in tikkun—the restoration of a broken world—and that each tale can be a redemptive act. For this work, I selected three of his most direct and evocative stories, imagining them as short animated films and composing a vivid, cinematic score to accompany them.
This performance features narrator Alex Eddington, whose voice guides us through these timeless parables of mystery, longing, and hope.
Join us for an evening of music and storytelling that bridges folklore, spirituality, and the concert hall.
